But what about their social and emotional wellbeing? Many of us know how important it is to maintain our child’s emotional health – but are we practicing it on the daily?

What about us teachers? Can we do anything to help promote SEL in the classroom? I am deeply fascinated by research in language acquisition and SEL, and I’ve just got some pretty juicy information to share with you are about how Social and Emotional Learning Interventions can Save a Child! Social and Emotional Learning Interventions Can Save a Child

There are a number of studies that have concluded that incorporating SEL into your classroom or at home. Systematic literature review was targeted at 19 studies; and while the evidence is still emerging, it may offer a promising early intervention approach to stengthen aspects of children’s social and behavioural functioning.

Things like discussions about emotions, SEL Books, daily check-ins etc are particularly studies for higher outcomes. The programmed associated with these 19 studies were mainly directed at preschoolers. this is why Social and Emotional Learning Interventions are important!

Great ways to incorporate SEL into your daily teaching plans

  • Use daily check-ins in your classroom to show kids how to cope with their emotions.
  • Use daily journal prompts, I’ve created some here suitable fore preschoolers who cannot write, they will only need to cut and paste to show their emotion.
  • Use Social and Emotional Learning Books to help promote appropriate behaviours in the classroom.
  • Always, always, always model appropriate behaviour in the classroom.
