Counting 1-10

Counting has never been so much fun as with this hands-on mini eraser counting activity! Teaching your toddler, preschool, and pre-k child Counting 1-10 is an important first step for learning math.

In this fun counting activity for preschoolers, students will work on  one to one correspondence, number recognition, and more while learning numbers 1 – 10 with these free printable Counting to 10 math Cards.

Simply print pdf file with mini erasers and tongs and you are ready to play and learn!

I like to keep these cards in a little container too. If you want to print the penguin and hat cards on a smaller scale, you can with PDF settings.

Just choose print >> print 4 on 1 page.

Counting activity for preschoolers

All you need for this fun, hands-on preschool counting activity is our free mini eraser counting cards and mini erasers.

Mini erasers are a common school supply that many people have on hand, if you don’t have mini erasers, you can substitute 10 of any object or even use some pom poms.

I love to use the fish mini erasers to make this game even more fun for preschoolers.

They love to find out how many fish the penguin ate.

They often start to giggle and laugh!

One to one correspondence

Have your child or students cover the penguin’s stomach with the matching number of fish erasers to correspond to the number shown on the hat.

Printable numbers 1-10

These cards are great for a simple counting activity with mini erasers OR you could use the counting cards with any other activity.

They are very versatile. I also like to use task boxes and carry the cards on the go for added practice.

What is an example of one to one correspondence?

This skill involves counting each object in a set once and only once with one touch per object.

For instance, a child who touches each fish mini eraser and says the number name aloud for each eraser touches, “one, two, three, four…”. The child is demonstrating the ability to count with one-to-one correspondence.

For beginners I would recommend you start with the numbers 1-3 and then move to 5-6 and so on.

Don’t start with the larger numbers until they are solid on the numbers 1-5 first.

The cards also include the dice numbers to 18. So you can definitely use these cards if you want to offer some students a challenge.
