Friendship Writing Activity Craft: Need a new way to help kids understand the qualities of what makes a good friend? These fun activities on Friendship for Preschoolers is a great way to add some social skills into your lesson plans.
Friendship Circle Time Activities
During circle time, you can have students list the qualities they like in a friend; and read a book to go along with the friendship theme.
Circle time is a great way to create a sense of community in the classroom. It also helps children learn how to interact with others in a healthy way.
One of the most popular circle time activities is friendship bracelets. Children can make them for themselves or for their friends.
There are many different patterns and styles that they can use to make the bracelets, but there are also many different ways that they can make them as well.
These ice cream crafts below are a good way to incorporate learning all about friendship qualities.
You can mix it up and have students describe qualities in their friend and would make for a great Friend Writing Activity Craft. Or even, for preschoolers cut and paste the qualities to ‘build the ice cream’.
These can be setup so easily! They are best suited for preschool and kindergarten to second grade, the cards in the pack are differentiated, so use the ones that will be best for your group of learners.
The book of the week is Mo Willem’s Should I Share My Ice Cream? This is a captivating book for kids.
It helps them understand what sharing is all about and how to be selfless. The book can be found on Amazon HERE or if you click on the picture below:
What you’ll need to set it up:
- ice cream cone and scoops templates (below)
- colored paper
- markers / crayons
- pencils
Print the templates however size you wish to print them on (I printed two A4 sized cones on one paper along with the scoops) this is to save paper when printing for the whole class.
There are two templates you can use, ones already set up with qualities of a friend and empty ones where you can add your own with the students!
Friendship activities for kids
Friendship activities for kids are important because they teach children how to be a good friend. When they are with their friends, they learn how to share, work together, and cooperate. These skills can help them succeed in the future.
Some of the best ways to promote friendship activities for kids is by helping them find other kids who share their interests. This will help them form strong connections with each other and be more successful in school too.
I love these Easy Friendship Bracelets from Red Ted Art. So cute and great to bring this message home too.
I helped the students complete this one on one in a small group setting. We discuss the quality and what it means to be ‘kind’ for instance.
Then we wrote one sentence to illustrate an example of being kind and why it’s important ‘to make my friend feel happy’ or ‘to make my friend feel welcome’.
Focusing on feelings is an essential part of this activity as it helped kids understand more about how important it is to make friends ‘feel’ good about themselves.
You can get the kids to paste their ice cream cones onto hard construction paper for display or in their notebooks!
