Here are some tips for teaching kids to be good friends:

Model good behavior: Children learn by example, so it’s important for adults to model good friendship behavior themselves.

Show kindness, generosity, and empathy towards others, and talk about the importance of these qualities in friendships.

Encourage sharing and taking turns: These are fundamental skills for building good friendships.

Teach children to share toys, games, and other items, and to take turns in conversation and play.

Promote empathy: Help children understand and appreciate the feelings of others by encouraging them to consider how their actions might impact their friends.

Encourage children to ask questions and listen actively to their friends.

Teach conflict resolution: Friendships can be complicated, and disagreements are bound to arise.

Teach children how to handle conflicts in a respectful and nonviolent manner, and encourage them to work together to find solutions.

Provide opportunities for positive social interaction: Children need time and space to practice their social skills and build friendships.

Encourage playdates, organize group activities, and provide opportunities for children to spend time together in positive and supportive environments.

Celebrate differences: Encourage children to embrace and celebrate the unique qualities that make each of their friends special.

Finally, show the kids what the final craft should look like. Have preschoolers draw on the beehive what a friend looks like and what they would do.
