If you haven’t seen this super fun elf craft yet, it’s our favorite this season! It’s a great idea to add to any Christmas season. Have the kids build their own elf in a fun way and also work on their name recognition skills.
You can do these crafts or ideas before Christmas eve or throughout the month of December. I still have my tree hanging till end of January – ha (shhhhh).

The elf on the shelf is a children’s book that was written by Carol Aebersold and Chanda Bell. It was published in September 2003. The story is about a family who adopts an elf to keep their children company at night.
The elf is placed on the shelf, and each night he moves from one house to the other without being seen by anyone but the children.
The elf on the shelf is a tradition that originated in North America. It is a Christmas decoration that is typically made to look like a doll or toy elf.
The elf would be placed in an inconspicuous spot and would move around to different locations each night, such as under the Christmas tree, in the fireplace, or on top of a shelf.
The idea behind this tradition is that children are told that if they behave they will receive gifts from the elf.
Use the printable notes to add anything you would like your children to notice, you can write these on the empty notes.
