When Groundhog Day comes around each year, I love to share fun activities and printables for preschool that I know your kids will love.
They love to learn all about the Groundhog and what happens at that time of year.
Why not share some fun facts about the Groundhog with your kids? They will love learning all about it!
In preschool, I try to incorporate many activities that involve name recognition skills.
I love simple name letter tracing printables or hands-on fine motor letter writing activities which I share quite often on this blog.

How to use the Groundhog Day Color Page Name Crafts
Coloring pages are all the rage lately, especially with kids. Adults also love it! Why is it important for us to train our kids to learn to color in early on in age?
Firstly, incorporating coloring into play helps build the child’s curiosity about their surroundings and their imagination. Does your child try to start coloring then give up?
Do they scribble on the page and not attempt to color inside the lines, use different colors for different pieces etc?
Then they need to be taught how to color in correctly. Some tips you could use is to show them where to color in.
Use an example piece and show them how you are coloring each piece on the page with a different color.
It’s not as simple as just handing out the pages and hoping for the best. Kids need to be taught this skill too.
The benefits they get from learning how to color in correctly is patience, good pencil grip, fine motor skills and coordination and writing skills. It is very much worth the effort!

Groundhog Day Editable Printable Name Sheets
Working on name recognition and name letter idendification? This printable will suit your preschoolers or students who are working on reading and recognising their names in print.
Just input the names and the PDF will automatically fill with the names you want.
With this printable, the kids will color the elements on their worksheet, then they will cut each element out and glue it into their ntoebooks / colored stock paper. T
hey will then cut out their name letters and paste them onto the craft.
They will then add some pom poms onto their craft by gluing them onto the empty dots shown on the groundhog.
This is optional, but it is such a fun way to fine tune motor skills and hand-eye coordination skills.
