Preschool and kindergarten kids will love this fun winter themed Alphabet I Spy Printables! Use magnetic letters with these pages or laminate and re-use year on year. You could also turn this into a sensory activity.
Add some rice to a tub, some magnetic letters and have the kids search away to find the letters and match them onto the mat – they won’t even realise they’re learning. These busy book inserts are perfect for pre-k special ed, mainstream and kindergarten kids working on their letter identification skills.

I Spy Printables PDF Sheets
There are many ways to use these PDF sheets, I LOVE to use them in busy binders, however I find that also printing the black and white version of these and adding them to my student’s home activities also works wonders!
Materials you will need to prepare these activities:
- A4 paper
- Magnifying glass (grab a set of them from Amazon here)
- Sensory tub (any filling rainbow rice is great for this theme) this is optional
- Magnetic letters (preferably coloured)
- Laminator (I LOVE this laminator, it’s SO worth investing in one at home)
- Dry erase markers
Hard I Spy Printables for Kindergarten
When creating these activities, I did want to include a harder version for kinders to use, especially when you want to challenge those capable students in your class. The second printable in this free set includes a font that is smaller so that the kids will need to use a magnifying glass to actually find the letters and record them on their sheets.
How to use the I Spy Letters Printable
Print any mat in colour or greyscale and then laminate them. You could also use dry erase inserts for these if you want to skip the lamination step. Print as many mats as you need for your set of students.
These mats are so much fun for pre-schoolers and kindergarten kids alike. You could totally differentiate these alphabet mats depending on the level of the students in your group. Once you’ve laminated the mats, place them on the table along with the setup sensory tub, magnetic letters (inside the tub) and some dry erase markers. The kids will look for a magnetic letter and pick one out randomly. They will identify the letter name and then look for it on the mat.

Alternatively, you could use dry erase markers to have the kids find the letters and tick them as they go.
The kids will love doing this! If you would like these mats larger, print the mats on A3 poster paper.
