These super cute Christmas activities are a great way to help preschool and kindergarten kids learn to read sight words in a fun way.

Add some mini erasers and you can even use the printable cards as calling cards and then have the kids find the words on their mats and cover it.

Winter break will be so much fun when you incorporate this fun activity in your literacy centers.

Below, I used a simple Santa craft with a beard from the dollar store.

If you want to add Christmas tree, you can even do that with the printable cards found in the PDF file.

Use this sight word game in your home school too, they’re easy to prep and use. I’ve included a black and white version.

Super cute Santa build a beard Christmas Sight Word Activity.

Print your sight word pages (the sight words you want to use with the students), then place the game board onto a mat or on a large table. Have the kids work in groups.

Please the calling cards onto a Santa beard (like the one shown below) or on a Santa Claus covered in snow (the template is in the file).

It’s a great festive way to play sight word games!

These Sight Word Dough Mats Editable Center will be the perfect addition to your sight word centers! Do you have students who are struggling with reading and recognising their sight words? Students will love these engaging high frequency sight word dough mats. As of 10/5/2021 – it now includes an Editable PDF – add any text you would like to a pre-programmed set of printables!

How to play the game:

The kids will pick a sight word card, then they will read it. They will then find the matching sight word on the mat. After this they will cover the sight word with the matching sight word gift calling card.

The full pre-k Dolch sight words are included in this download. It’s a great way to promote early phonics and reading skills with a fun Christmas theme.

Independent work sight word tree

You can print a template of a Christmas tree or find a foam one from the dollar store, and then have the kdis read the sight word and place it under the tree.

This targets the needs of a variety of students.
