Looking for some super fun first grade sight word games? I love incorporating games into learning sight words. Students respond well to games, crafts, songs and more. This pumpkin themed sight word puzzle is a simple but fun activity to do during fall season. The best part about it is, that it’s actually self correcting.
I share so many more sight word printables and activities right here on the blog.
Students will know if they’ve done it correctly when the puzzle pieces make an image.

The best way to play this game is to give each group a large handout of the mat they will need to build on.

Students will then find the puzzle piece with the matching sight word, trace it on the mat and then paste the piece onto the mat.
They continue to do this until all the pieces are done and the image make sense.

You can choose to laminate this activity if you like, and use the color version.
I like to get the students to color in their work.
However, for repeated use, I would laminate it along with the pieces.
