Alphabet Upper and Lowercase Football Matching Cards
These fun cards are so easy to prepare for! All you need is:
- scissors
- activity cards (below)
- laminator
- printer/A4 paper
To play
Have kids choose a card and then read the letter that is on the card. Then they get to try to find the matching lowercase ‘helmet’ card from that pile and place it on the kid ready to play football. To mix it up, you could alternate which cards the kids get to pick first in order to find the matching letter card. That way they match their lower and uppercase letters in random order.
Here are some more literacy and math activities suitable for kids in preschool or kindergarten / ESL ELL. This next activity gets the kids writing their alphabet in order starting from any letter. These strips can be laminated and re-used.
This write the room sight word activity uses the first 30 Dolch pre-primer sight words. You hang these cards around the room and get the kids walking around looking for the cards and writing their sight words down!
Here’s the recording sheet the kids can use!
This activity is great for ESL/ELL kids. They read the phrases with positional words and then place the football in the correct place according to the directions.
Football themed count and clip cards. Great for getting the kids to review their numbers.
Counting dry-erase “What number comes after ____?” strips. Kids fill in the correct number.
Alphabet order puzzles, these are fun for kids as they get to put the puzzle pieces together, they learn and review their alphabet order.
