Busy bags and busy books are so much much for younger kids.
Digital products have taken the world by a storm and everyone now has a printer at home, so why not create busy book printables in pdf file format rather than felt.
I’ve previously shared the Christmas themed busy book printable and that was a hit with my kids.
I love the idea of the felt books, but I never got around to learning how to make them, they are time consuming and many times I just gave up!
How easy is it to have this printable page printed out, added to a plastic sleeve and then using it right away with velcro?
My kids love to match pieces together and this is no exception.
Like in this printable, kids will choose a letter hat, then find the matching lowercase case on the mat and place it on the penguin’s head.
It’s fun and enjoyable! Kids relate and they love the graphics too.
Fun winter printable activities
This printable pack includes activities to work on letter recognition, letter matching skills, early counting skills and more.
I like to gather my materials first like dry erase markers, magnetic letters and pom poms then I start laminating the pages I’d like my child to use.
I wouldn’t use all the pages at once if the child isn’t ready, for instance, you could begin with the letter matching penguin sheet and then see how they follow, if they struggle with it, introduce an easier activity and so on.
There’s also a cover page included in the free download, choose from a boy or girl.
These pages are so much fun for this winter season, I love making winter scenes with my students and some of the times, we’re stuck inside on cold winter days, hello indoor recess?
So these themed busy book pages are perfect for us when we need them on a whim.
Quiet book printable worksheets
Play some fun winter games with the penguin letter matching mats, roll and dice and play math games and work on counting and number sense skills with this winter scene printable activity sheets.
These printable pages target basic skills and they are fun learning activities for kindergarten kids and preschool kids alike.
Why are busy books good for children?
Busy books are a great tool to have on hand if you want to use them on the go with your kids and work on targeted skills for your students. They develop problem solving skills and critical thinking skills.
What’s more, you can even use them as playdough mats to let the kids work on their imagination skills as well as their artistic skills.
For instance this letter pom pom match is something kids will LOVE, it includes a letter and the font in pom pom format.
The kids will buid each letter using pom poms. We work on fine motor skills AND letter recognition with this one activity.
The best part about busy book is that they are interactive activities and they aren’t just worksheets.
So, you could use them ongoingly throughout the year as much as you like, or you could add many different printable pages to work on specific skills with your child.
Work on snowman shapes and shape recognition with thsi super fun printable mat. This is included in the full winter themed busy book download.
It’s a fun way to work on early learning skills.

Here are some of the materials needed for these pages pf activities in this post.
- printable pages (free download below)
- dry erase marker
- scissors (to cut the elements)
- laminator or plastic sleeves (to add your pages to)
I’ve also included a cover page for the winter busy book which you can use to add to the front of the binder.
It’s optional, but it really does help keep things together.
Get cosy in cold weather with these fun games and free preschool downloads below.
This printable book can be made by using plastic sleeves, I like to include those because sometimes I don’t want to laminate the pages and then hole punch them.
This printable below is included in the full winter themed busy book download.
I found this to be a quicker way to assembling the binder and using them more efficiently, because you can re-use the plastic sleeves for other activities too.
