Instructions:
Step -1:
Select at least 2 different colored craft papers for the paper firecracker pattern. Cut out long strips from the selected craft papers; the strips should be of the same length but different width of an inch difference. Take any one of the strips.
Step -2:
Fold the strip into half lengthwise. Fold the strip into half 2 or 3 times.
Step – 3:
Use a pencil to draw a zigzag pattern along any one of the open ends of the folded paper.
Step – 4:
Use scissors to cutout the traced zigzag border. Kids might need help creating the zigzag effect, but you can always have the firecracker look a little different – doesn’t need to be perfect!
Step – 5:
Unfold the paper from the previous step.
Make Crafts Easy for Preschoolers
Remember to show them the steps before you start creating the craft. You will also need to make it simpler. FOr example the cutting part doesn’t need to be cut in a zig zig manner. It can be cut in a random way as long as it is in a circle.
Step – 6:
Create accordion folds with the zigzag patterned strips. Don’t forget to see some transportation crafts for kids who love vehicles!
Step – 7:
Join the open sides (width) of the accordion folded strip to form a ring.
Step – 8:
Carefully flatten the accordion folded ring by spreading the zigzag border facing outside. To make it easier, hold the plain side of the ring and push it towards the center. Glue a round piece of paper on the flattened accordion folded ring to secure the flat pattern. Remember to keep the zigzag border outwards.
Step – 9:
Similarly, create an accordion folded round pattern with the other paper strip.
Step – 10:
Attach the small pattern on the top of the big pattern.
Step – 11: Final picture
Attach the patterns on a popsicle stick to make the paper firecracker craft. Cut out a star pattern from a glitter craft sheet and attach it in the center of the paper firecracker pattern.
I hope you enjoy creating your Firecracker New Year Craft for Preschoolers! Remember you can always modify it to suit younger learners. The scissor patterns do not need to be that perfect!
