I like to get the kids coloring their sheet, maybe even use qtips for dot painting and strengthening fine motor skills.

If you want to work on following directions AND fine motor skills. This printable pack includes directions on making an Ugly Sweater using cut outs. The best part is that the students get one page to work on.

You could either say the instructions out loud OR have them follow and read the directions to create their unique sweaters.

If they do not follow the directions correctly, their sweaters won’t look right, but it’s still fun to see what they will do and how they will look.

This activity was made to work on listening and following directions!

I would then instruct them on how to form each letter in their name on the mat.

For this printable, the kids would practice two skills, writing and tracing their names, and then cutting and pasting the letters in their names in order.

Kids in preschool and kindergarten are still working on their name letter formation and writing their names. 

This sweater craft includes both ideas to practice name writing and recognition along with fine motor skills.

They need all the practice they can get. Here are some materials you can use with this printable mat:

Sometimes, I also get the kids to rainbow write inside each letter to create and form their letters. 

I have included a prewriting activity just above to help kids develop their pencil grip skills too. They could also rainbow color those lines as they follow them from the dot onwards.
