This Spread Germs or Stop Germs activity uses simple picture cards to help children identify good and poor hygiene choices. Instead of lengthy explanations, students cut, sort, look, discuss and make decisions about familiar situations.

Personal Hygiene Activity for Teaching Kids About Germs

These germs activities for kids focus on one simple question: Does this action spread germs or stop germs?

Students complete a germ sorting activity by cutting out illustrated cards and placing them beneath the correct heading. Pictures show everyday situations such as washing hands, picking a nose, sharing food, using a tissue, cleaning a table and sneezing into an elbow.

Using familiar examples makes teaching kids about germs much more meaningful. Students aren’t simply memorising a list of classroom rules—they’re learning to recognise what healthy and unhealthy choices actually look like.
