Dental Health Preschool Crafts
What you will need to make this craft:
- white paper
- cotton balls (optional)
- glue
- coloring pencils or crayons

For this dental theme craft, be sure to have your template ready along with the materials.
First step is to print out the tooth craft with the items on each side.
Have the kids color in the items and their tooth if they wish.
I like to have them add some cotton balls on top to create a tooth. I get them to do this with the happy face and the sad face.
They will then sort the items under the correct tooth and paste them in.
We also discuss why these food items are bad or good for teeth.
We might also add more items by drawing them in.
Then, I love this part, it is optional. We create our names from the floss cards. These name letters are great.

We work on name building and letter recognition that way. We also talk about why flossing is good for our teeth.
Food items that are bad and good for our teeth
As parents and caregivers, we want to make sure our kids are healthy in every way, and that includes oral health.
The foods our kids eat play a big role in the health of their teeth.
Some foods can cause damage, while others can help keep teeth healthy.
Here are some examples of good and bad foods for our children’s teeth:
Foods that are bad for teeth:
- Sugary foods and drinks: Sugary foods and drinks can cause cavities and decay.
- Sticky or gummy foods: Sticky or gummy foods can cling to teeth and cause damage.
- Acidic foods and drinks: Acidic foods and drinks can wear away the enamel on teeth, leading to decay.
- Carbonated drinks: Carbonated drinks are often high in sugar and acid, making them a double threat to teeth.
- Chewy candy: Chewy candy is often high in sugar and can stick to teeth, causing damage.
Foods that are good for teeth:
- Fresh fruits and vegetables: Fresh fruits and vegetables are low in sugar and high in fiber, making them a great choice for teeth.
- Dairy products: Dairy products like cheese and yogurt are high in calcium, which can help strengthen teeth.
- Water: Water is a great choice for oral health because it washes away food particles and bacteria in the mouth.
- Nuts and seeds: Nuts and seeds are a great source of protein and minerals, which can help keep teeth healthy.
- Whole grains: Whole grains like brown rice and whole wheat bread are high in fiber, which can help keep teeth clean.
It’s important to remember that moderation is key.
While some foods are better than others for teeth, it’s okay to indulge in treats occasionally.
Encouraging good oral hygiene habits, like brushing and flossing regularly, is also crucial for maintaining healthy teeth.
