Asking VS. Telling Sentences

So the other day, one of my ESL students was still struggling to tell the difference between an asking sentence and a telling one. I looked up a few resources to help him, although I thought I wanted to expand on this and maybe explain commanding and exclaiming sentences. There weren’t many resources on the web expanding on those so I made one to support all sentences. The pack includes a few literacy centers and games.
The favorite was this ‘pegging’game, where students race to place a peg on the correct ending punctuation on each card. I have included all types of sentences in this station. You could actually choose which ones you’d like you kiddos to work on. 🙂 The full pack is in my TPT store. If you like to take a look at it, click on the picture below to take you there.
Now for the sweet part, here is a freebie for you to try the ‘pegging’ game. It’s so much fun! You could print four/five sets for each 3 students or so. They could also copy their sentences in their notebooks for further practice. – If they’re advanced students you could also get them to change the sentences to ‘questions’ or ‘telling’ sentences or vice versa. 🙂

As always, I love hearing from you! If you liked this activity, feel free to leave me a post below! 🙂

Thank you for stopping by!
