Social Stories About Emotions

Big feelings are a normal part of kindergarten. One minute a child is happily building a tower; the next, the wrong colour crayon has caused a full emotional weather event. The tricky part is that young children often do not yet have the words, confidence, or strategies to explain what is happening inside.

These feelings social stories are especially helpful for early learners because they combine pictures, simple reading, discussion, and follow-up activities. Children can build emotional vocabulary for kids while also practising early literacy skills such as reading a short passage, answering questions, tracing words, and talking about what they would do.
