Separation Anxiety Social Story

A social story is a short, visual story that explains a situation in a clear and supportive way. This one focuses on those tricky moments when children need to separate from a parent, caregiver, or familiar adult.

It can gently explain that:

  • It is okay to feel sad, worried, or nervous at goodbye time.
  • Grown-ups say goodbye because children are going somewhere safe to learn, play, or be cared for.
  • A parent or caregiver will come back.
  • Children can use simple coping tools while they wait, such as taking breaths, talking to a teacher, looking at a visual schedule, or joining an activity.
