March Spring Weather Roll a Story Writing Activity

Add some rainy-day fun to writing with this March Roll a Story activity! Students roll a die to choose a character, problem, and setting before creating their own spring-themed story. The prompts include puddles, rain, mud, umbrellas, parks, yards, and other familiar spring weather situations that make it easy for students to imagine what happens next.
This Roll a Story writing activity gives beginning writers the structure they need while still allowing plenty of creativity. Visual prompts support vocabulary development, oral storytelling, sentence formation, sequencing, and independent writing skills.
Use this printable for March writing centers, spring writing activities, morning work, small groups, partner storytelling, or independent practice. This spring creative writing activity is particularly useful for kindergarten, first grade, ELL/ESL learners, and reluctant writers because students do not have to generate an entire story idea from scratch.
