Hi all! I truly hope that your week has been well I am linking up with Doodle Bugs for the weekly Five for Friday posts. π
I know some of my friends from the U.S have just headed back to school this week.
I’ll start the post with some inspiration π
1. Some things are exciting about the return to school – but some aren’t! π
2. We have been so busy in the classroom this week, my ESL students are working on alphabetizing and my younger group are working on phonics – I have some new activities to share with you all and I can’t wait! π
Here are some pictures of what we have done this week. All these activities will be on TPT soon (if not already). I’ve also uploaded some freebies! I will provide a link at the bottom of each picture so you can check it out if you like. π
My students worked on vowel sounds. We used dry erase pockets for some of the cards with Β a pair of students while the other two used hole punchers – then we swapped these around! They had so much fun rotating as they love using the hole puncher just as much as the daubers! ;P
So in tutoring, I love using new ideas to help grab students’ attention. Introducing interactive notebooks wasn’t easy – so I made this little interactive notebook “about me” activity which they can use to start any subject. Or at the start of the new year! π

I recently made these interactive picture puzzles to help my students alphabetize. They loved these! I made two – one pirate themed and the other one was fall themed. I haven’t uploaded them yet but I will soon as one freebie too! π

3. This point is non-teaching related but it’s a point worth mentioning. My husband and I have been attending some house auctions with my sister and brother in law. I have to say that you gotta breathe a sight of relief right now…
Right now….
If you live anywhere but in Australia.
Here’s why:
On a busy road with noisy trucks passing by every half a minute.
And it gets better…
Are you sighing…
π
And if you’re thinking our salary probably pays for that or higher per year. Nope. We don’t. It’s sad and I if the average household is paying 1MILLION or more on a mediocre house that is 100+ years old (which would take the average lifespan of a person – if you live to 100 lol and more to pay it off on a salary of $55K). This is why I said folks… SIGH of relief.
I guess it’s not easy anywhere else in the world really – but Australia property prices are really pushing the ‘ridiculous’.
End of rant. π
5. I’ll close with a Ryan meme made by Teaching Outside the Box!
Speaking of a new tote π
